Ohio Artists offer their sincere condolences to the Davis family. David E. Davis passed away November 13, 2002
David E. Davis
Through the abstract style of my work, I strive for a universal mode of
expression transcending politics and social conflict. My concern is with the life of the
spirit rather than the work-a-day world. In a symbolic way, my work suggests an optimistic
view of the world...a world where the highest standards of aesthetics can be achieved.
Having a B.F.A. from the Cleveland Institute of Art and M.F.A. from Case Western Reserve
University, I have been working as an independent professional sculptor since 1967. I have
completed 22 public commissions in Ohio and Florida, had 19 solo exhibitions, and have
participated in over 70 group shows. I founded The Sculpture Center in Cleveland, Ohio,
whose mission is to promote the conservation of outdoor sculpture and to foster the
careers of emerging sculptors. As a founding member of the Artists Archives of The Western
Reserve, I support the preservation and advancement of regional art in the northeastern
Ohio area.
